Through the Fire by Shawn Grady - reviewed by my son

ABOUT THE BOOK: (from the publisher)

Even Smoke Runs From the Fire

Firefighting burns in Aidan O'Neill's blood, but his innate gift for reading flames has made him overconfident and sometimes puts lives in danger. When one call goes horribly wrong and a rookie is hurt, Aidan ends up suspended and finds himself questioning everything.

It couldn't have happened at a worse time.

An arsonist is targeting Reno, leaving a scorched path of destruction. The department needs Aidan back, but his return is troubled. The gift he relied on for so long has gone silent•and it's as though the fires are coming for him, hunting him down. Teaming with a beguiling fire investigator who may know more than she's saying, Aidan must discover where his trust rests as the flames burn ever closer.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK:

Okay, confession time. I haven't read this one yet. However, my oldest son has, and he has shared some of his thoughts with me. I will pass them along to you now, because I am just thrilled that I have such great books available for my son to read, and even more thrilled that he can understand the important spiritual message behind the story!

Aiden O'Neil is a third generation fireman. There have been a lot of mysterious fires in his area, and the firebug seems to be targeting Aiden. It seems as if he is being pursued by the fire itself. But is through this series of life-threatening situations that Aiden must learn that unless God is in charge of his life, unless he is relinquishing control of his life to God, that he will become overwhelmed and make wrong choices. But, if the Lord is leading, you can walk Through the Fire of life with far less pain and calamity than if you depend totally on your own strength. There is a lot of action in this story, and it is a very good book.

So, purchase your own copy and get to know Shawn Grady. He is a terrific debut novelist!
