A Passion Denied by Julie Lessman - MY REVIEW

ABOUT THE BOOK: (from the publisher)

Has she fallen in love with a man who cannot love her back?

Elizabeth O'Connor has been like the little sister John Brady always wanted, sharing his love of literature and his thirst for God. But in the throes of the reckless Roaring Twenties, Lizzie has grown up. Suddenly she wants more from the man who has been her friend since she was a child. When this shy little bookworm blossoms into a beautiful young woman bent on loving John, she discovers that his past won't let him return that love. But Lizzie refuses to give up--until his shocking secrets push her away.

Can true love survive the betrayal and deceitful of a painful past . . . or will it be shattered like the fairy-tale dreams of a girl in love?

Brimming with romance, longing, and redemption, A Passion Denied, will quicken your pulse and gladden your heart with a riveting story of the true power of love.

MY REVIEW:

The final installment in The Daughters of Boston is here at last, and this time A Passion Denied shares the entire O’Connor family with the reader. While the primary story line deals with Elizabeth O’Connor and her longing for relationship with John Brady, there are a multitude of story lines that swirl about the pages like so many tornadoes – carrying your heart and mind to some pretty fantastical places.

It’s pretty impossible to share the story-line of this book without giving away important details. Suffice it to say that the Faith and Charity’s struggles from A Passion Most Pure and A Passion Redeemed still remain albeit in some pretty unexpected areas of their lives! Even Patrick and Marcy – the bedrock of the O’Connor family don’t escape a trial of faith in this story! In each situation guilt, shame, trust and forgiveness come to play in vital ways, and as painful as it becomes for each character, the entire cast of the O’Connor family must learn the meaning of mercy and grace in a whole new way.

The plot twists in A Passion Denied come fast and furious, and by the end of the story your heart and mind are almost exhausted! However, Julie Lessman’s writing is bolder than ever, and she deals with realistic marital strife as well as the temptations of those who are dating and longing for the bonds of matrimony. I daresay that anyone who has ever been romantically involved at any level will find some area that they relate to very well.

Released earlier this month, A Passion Denied is sure to be a satisfying ending the The Daughters of Boston series. You can visit the author's website to learn more about her work.
