My Thoughts:
I've been a long time fan of Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family. Dr. Dobson's Handbook of Family Advice is a treasure trove of wisdom, practical life-application, and clear biblical instructions on many and varied topics dealing with family life. He begins with the most basic components of family life (communication, community and compassion, encouragement and conflict) and moves into specific issues ranging from grace and forgivness, health and safety, money, parenting. The book concludes by dealing with more complex issues such as self-esteem, stress, sex, dating and purity, single parenting and various trials.
Dr. Dobson is considered an expert on family topics, but he readily teaches everyone that God is the creator of the family, and that His Word is our ultimate family guide book. He strives to give everyone, regardless of what their current family structure looks like, the tools they need to navigate some of the most common situations. This book is a collection of Dobson's many commentaries he has shared through his Focus on the Family broadcasts. This is a treasure that would be a great addition to any family library. I am happy to recommend this to everyone!
