Deceived by Irene Hannon - REVIEWED

About the Book:
A grieving mother. A mysterious child. And a dedicated PI who's determined to solve the puzzle.
For three years, Kate Marshall has been mourning the loss of her husband and four-year-old son in a boating accident. But when she spots a familiar-looking child on a mall escalator, she's convinced it's her son. With police skeptical of her story, she turns to private investigator Connor Sullivan for help. As the former Secret Service agent digs into the case, the boating "accident" begins to look increasingly suspicious. But if Kate's son is alive, someone is intent on keeping him hidden--and may go to lethal lengths to protect a sinister secret.
As Irene Hannon's many fans have come to expect, Deceived is filled with complex characters, unexpected twists, and a riveting plotline that accelerates to an explosive finish.

My Thoughts:
That’s how it happens sometimes.  We have one plan for our life, but God often has another.”        (p. 97)

Kate Marshall’s life certainly took a devastating turn a couple of years ago.  Such loss!  Such tragedy! Is the young boy she sees at the local mall a vision from her broken heart, or is there a possibility that God has allowed her a glimpse of a restored future?

When Kate walks into Conner Sullivan’s office with her request for help to sort out the reality of her recent experience, Conner is rather dubious.  However, he is unmistakably drawn to Kate for a variety of reasons.  Despite his co-worker’s doubts about the validity of her request, they agree to give their best efforts to his new case.  Everyone, Kate and Conner most especially, aren’t prepared for the results they uncover!

Irene Hannon has a very unique way of tying together a seemingly random set of circumstances into a heart-pounding adventure!  She takes your heart and mind around a series of twists and turns that are truly amazing!  I must say, I could not imagine how she would ever bring the strands of this story together, but I wasn’t disappointed!

Actually, I was left a bit unsettled.  The reality of the scenario that this story is built around is not so unrealistic as you might imagine.  It sort of calls into question the familiar and make you take a second and third look at the lives that swirl around you and fill your days. You truly never know the heartache that some people carry in their lives and the burdens that weigh on their minds.  Grief and loss put a broken lens over reality for many people.

Hannon inserts hope in a thrilling way!  She uses conversations to build her characters into believable, solid people that truly tug at your heartstrings!  Deceived is a tremendous addition to The Guardians of Justice series!  I am more than happy to recommend this to everyone!
