Vanished by Irene Hannon - REVIEWED!

About the Book:  (from Revell Publishing)

A tenacious reporter. A skeptical PI. And a secret that will shatter lives.
Reporter Moira Harrison is lost. In the dark. In a thunderstorm. When a lone figure suddenly appears in the beam of her headlights, Moira slams on her brakes-but it’s too late. She feels the solid thump against the side of her car before crashing into a tree on the far side of the road.
A man opens her door, tells her he saw everything, and promises to call 911. Then the world fades to black. When she comes to, she is alone. No man. No 911. No injured person. But she can’t forget the look of terror she saw on that face in the instant before her headlights swung away. And she can’t get anyone to believe her story-except maybe a handsome ex–homicide detective turned private eye, who reluctantly agrees to take on the case.
As clues begin to surface, it becomes obvious that someone doesn’t want this mystery solved-and will stop at nothing to protect a shocking secret.

My Thoughts:
Our prayers should be for blessings in general, for God knows best what is good for us.”  (p. 149)

Although the quote is from Socrates, the wisdom about prayer is timeless and true.  Moira Harrison is seeking answers to a very bizarre accident that has haunted her since the stormy night it occurred.  Cal  Burke is the P.I. she seeks for help since the police found little evidence that there was anyone else at the scene of the accident.  Cal’s heart is still reeling years after losing his wife, and he has turned to a job that allows him to seek justice for others.  Moira’s entrance into his life begins to uncover and answer questions in his personal life, while also raising many more questions that are desperate for answers.

The plot of Irene Hannon’s book seems pretty straight forward at first.  However, when she begins to introduce plot twists, gradually and believably, the reader begins to spiral into the dark imaginings of a very unsuspected evil.  Even Moira and Cal can barely believe where the evidence begins to lead! So, once again, readers will enjoy a well-paced, suspenseful journey that will ultimately end up in a heart-pounding place of surprise and danger!

It never ceases to amaze me how some people grow and change positively in the wake of tragedy, while others spiral down into a deep, dark pit of depravity.  Faith, forgiveness, and trust in God are the elements that make all of the difference, and Moira and Cal must learn this in a very real and painful way!  Irene Hannon weaves truth into her story while taking nothing away from the thrill of the journey!  I am most pleased to recommend Vanished to you!
