About the Book:
Who am I?
My name is Christy Snow. I’m seventeen and I’m about to die. I’m buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I’m lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won’t stop shaking.
Some will say that I’m not really here. Some will say I’m delusional. Some will say that I don’t even exist. But who are they? I’m the one buried in a grave.
My name is Christy Snow. I’m seventeen. I’m about to die.
So who are you?
In a return to the kind of storytelling that made Showdown and Three unforgettable, Ted Dekker drags that question into the light with this modern day parable about how we see ourselves.
Humming with intensity and blindsided twists, Eyes Wide Open is raw adrenaline from the first page to the last pure escapism packed with inescapable truth. Not all is as it seems. Or is it? Strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Literally.
My Thoughts:
Christy Snow and Austin Hartt begin their day in the same
way they always do with the exception of a couple of details. Christy has lost an important locket that she
really wants to find, and Austin is waiting the find out the results of a
recent series of tests being done in order to determine the cause of his worsening
headaches. Neither of the details seems connected, but
they both prove to be reasons to take them into a very unexpected place. A place where they lose everything.
Well, maybe not everything, but pretty close. They wind up in circumstances so bizarre, so
frightening, so…unexpected that you are left desperate for answers!! And I do mean desperate!
Hence the brilliant marketing of this book!! See, Dekker has
released a series of four e-books, and offered the first one for free. And he knew what he was doing, because you
get drawn in so completely that the moment you read the last word of the first
installment, you will do most anything to get your hands on the next one!! Brilliant, isn’t it?! I think so!
Well, it certainly worked for me, because I will be
frantically reading the latest installment, and will be most anxious to see how
everything comes together. You know
though, that you have to be pretty certain readers will like the ending of your
story to offer such a compelling beginning to an e-book series! But if anyone
can pull this off successfully, I have every confidence that Ted Dekker is the
author who can!
It’s been a while since I’ve allowed myself to become so totally
distracted with a story! Identity is the first installment of Eyes Wide Open. It is the first of four ebooks and promises to be a phenomenal read in
every sense of the word!! Literally!!
