Mirrors Book 2 of Eyes Wide Open by Ted Dekker - REVIEWED

About the Book:
EYES WIDE OPEN is a novel that challenges the status quo as Ted often does, but it also stretches the idea of how stories themselves are told. This wild ride is one seamless novel written and initially released as four (4) sequential shorter books or episodes (Identity, Mirrors, Unseen, Seer) delivered weekly as 75 page eBooks before the full 300 page story (Eyes Wide Open) comes out on Feb 4th in both paperback and eBook formats.Think of each shorter eBook as a TV episode and Eyes Wide Open as the full season. Much like some of Ted's favorites, Dexter and Homeland, each episode ends on a cliffhanger that is continued in the next.

My Thoughts:

Every day, we betray ourselves in a thousand ways without realizing it.  The true self always claws its way to the ugly surface.”  (Fisher speaking to Austin)

This is a true statement about everyone who draws breath.  It is especially true as it relates to the spiritual battle that rages between the old sinful man and the newly born redeemed believer.  I have no idea where this idea will lead, but in the second installment of Dekker’s  Eyes Wide Open  - Mirrors – both Christy and Austin are in an all out war between reality and their current situation.

As I journey further into this novel, it will become harder and harder to write about it without giving away anything vital to the plot.  But suffice it to say, that Christy and Austin’s situation becomes gravely worse in the Mirrors installment.  In fact, at the point where the reader is left to wait for the next section of the book, both of the main characters are in pretty dire straights.  If Dekker brings them out on the other side of this experience, they will be forever changed.  That change  - whatever it turns out to be, either positive of negative-  is the only certainty these two have offered to them.  Right now, I am doubtful that either of them will survive, and if they do, they will most certainly be damaged.

But wait, they were pretty broken people to begin with.  So, perhaps this extreme and very disconcerting set of circumstances will heal something in their minds and hearts and make them better.  Who know?!  Well, besides Dekker himself, no one yet!  I will be buying the third ebook the moment it becomes available!! I have to know!!
