SMORE for Women by Gail Showalter

Spiritual Ministry Offering Retreats and Encouragement (SMORE) is a unique ministry conceived by Gail Showalter. Gail spent sixteen years as a single mom raising three children, and her heart’s desire is to reach out and minister to other women raising children as a single parent. Gail’s ministry includes eleven other women with a desire to help encourage single moms. These women bring a huge variety of talent and knowledge to the ministry, and the retreats offered through their efforts serve to help single moms grow into the full potential Christ has planned for their lives.

The retreats offer a wide range of topics ranging from understanding personality types and money matter to job hunting guides, dating tips and grieving. Although I’ve never been a single parent, I have volunteered at a women’s rehab program for the past eighteen months, and I know without a doubt that there are lots of unique challenges faced by the growing number of single moms in our society. I am very happy to learn that there is a ministry designed to meet some of these needs, and I hope that by participating in this tour that someone will find the hope, the help and the joy that can only be found in Christ.

I invite you to take time to learn more about Gail Showalter and her unique ministry to single moms. Visit the SMORE website today!

A Message from the Author:

Thank you for the opportunity to share my passion for single mothers. In the United States, alone, there are over ten million mothers raising children alone. Over one third of them live in poverty. After years of being on my own as a mother of three, I came to realize how little is done in our communities and churches for this group of children with absent fathers and women with no husbands. The vast majority does not attend church, but our neighborhoods are filled with single moms.

I’ve created and implemented, along with an eleven member board, a detailed plan for encouraging, inspiring, and blessing single mothers. If you have ever wondered what you could do to make a difference for even one of the moms, this is the answer. It is easy, inexpensive, and exceedingly worthwhile.
