Embers of Love by Tracie Peterson - REVIEWED

About the Book: (from the publisher)

She was certain she could strike a match

After being educated in the east, Deborah Vandermark returns to Perkinsville, Texas, where her family is part of the thriving logging industry. She brings along an unexpected companion—her best friend, who is fleeing a wedding and groom she has no interest in. A determined matchmaker, Deborah sets her sights on uniting her brother and friend in what she hopes will be a true love match.

Then Deborah meets Christopher Clayton, the town's new doctor—and quickly realizes she has a much greater interest in medicine and science than the bookkeeping she studied at college. Soon Deborah is caught between her fascination for doctoring and her obligation to her family. And in the midst of her warring emotions is the doctor himself• Are her tumultuous feelings for the man, or for what he can teach her?

My Thoughts:

When you pick up a book with Tracie Peterson’s name on the cover, make sure you don’t have anything pressing to do. Make sure you don’t have anywhere to be at a certain time. Why? Because you will be hard pressed to put down her books and get anything done! Time just evaporates when you’re reading Tracie’s books! At least that is the experience I just had while reading her latest book, Embers of Love.

Peterson creates some very strong characters in her story, and you will soon become involved in their hearts and lives in a very personal way. I could totally relate to Deborah Vandermark’s experience of coming home from the university only to find that her perspective on her home life has changed in unexpected ways. Her mind and heart have been opened to new possibilities, and while she still has unfailing devotion to her family, she longs for something more.

I could also relate to her friend from college, Lizzie. I was so proud of the way she chose to stand up for herself and become the woman God intended her to be! I loved Deborah’s family for accepting Lizzie into their hearts and lives and loving her enough to allow her to grow and thrive in this Texas logging community.

As the title indicates, this story ignites the embers of love in several hearts within the story. There is a lot of unexpected drama and danger along the way, and there is a deep desire to do the right thing among the members of the Vandermark family. I loved them all!

So, in short, don’t miss this precious story! You will be thoroughly entertained all along the way! I am happy to recommend this book to you!

It's like I'm a book or two behind you! LOL. 'Embers of Love' is teetering on the top of my TBR pile...and, horrors....I haven't read a Tracie Peterson book yet. I know, it's shocking and I should be ashamed of myself! So many books, so little time!
