A View from Tosca Lee's Window about her project with Ted Dekker - FORBIDDEN!

I had the exciting opportunity to meet and interview Tosca Lee while I was attending the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta last month. She and Ted Dekker were promoting their unique project, Forbidden. This book is the first in The Book of Mortals trilogy, and releases in mid-September. I wanted to share my conversation with Tosca and introduce you to the book that promises to be one of the hottest titles of 2011!

Please welcome Tosca Lee to my Window!

Tosca, tell your readers what projects you are currently working on, and how the idea for the book Forbidden came about.

I’m two years into the Judas project, and my 1st two novels have re-released. Through the process of contacting Ted Dekker about an endorsement for Demon we began talking about his writing projects. As we talked we realized that we had a lot of common ideas thematically, and as we talked we realized that we could work on a project in tandem that would present both of our strongest writing talents. Ted is amazing at creating stories that grip the reader, and I’m stronger at creating compelling prose. We thought we’d explore the possibility of working together, and the idea for Forbidden was born.

Can you tell us a little bit about Forbidden?

Perfect peace reigns one hundred years in the future after a world wide apocalyptic catastrophe. All emotions have been genetically stripped away except the emotion of fear. The ultimate question explored in the story is; “Do we do what we do out of fear or love?” We take the idea further and also look at the idea of what humans would do if they had no fear. We explore the creation of man and what it tells us about man and about God. There is a redemptive story line, but it is one that is wrapped around an intense fight to regain emotion and experience the full range of human existence.

When will Forbidden be available to readers?

The book is scheduled to release around mid-September, but it may be available to order online at an earlier date.

Are there special promotions for this project?

There will be some really fun and exciting contests on both my site and Ted’s site. You can also connect with us on Facebook and win some really great stuff. I don’t want to give anything away, but it is really amazing! You don’t want to miss it!

You mentioned earlier that you were two years into the Judas project. When will readers be able to enjoy this story?

I’m not really sure, but it is tentatively scheduled to release sometime next year…maybe.

What encouragement would you like to leave with your readers?

Find the story that tells the story of you. Ask questions! And then delve into those questions and seek the answers. You may not find answers quickly, but you will learn a great deal in the process - about God and yourself.
