Mack Danvers is a mountain man from the hills of North Carolina. His siblings were doled out like so many kittens after his mother died, and as one of the older brothers, Mack’s heart was torn with longing to bring his family together again. When he takes a position as a useful man at the Biltmore estate he enters into a world of servitude that binds him as surely as any gilded cage. Tilly Reese is the head parlormaid at the Vanderbuilt’s Biltmore estate, and she has been offered the opportunity to compete for the position of lady’s maid. This coveted position seems to be the fulfillment of Tilly’s dreams, until she meets Mack Danvers. From the moment these two appear on the same page, the electricity begins to spark between them, and by the time they have their first dance in the barnyard gathering the tension between them is almost unbearable. Tilly’s heart begins to pull her in a direction totally unfamiliar, but oh so wonderful, and she fights it with every ounce of strength in her bull-headed heart.

Deeanne Gist can write the BEST romances I have ever read! She creates characters with sass and personality, strong determination, gentle hearts and more charisma than the pages of the book can contain. Who would have ever dreamed of setting a story amid the people who served as servants of the Vanderbuilt’s Biltmore estate? Gist did, and it is a brilliant story! She sets poverty side by side with over-the-top affluence and yet she fleshes out characters on both sides of the financial divide and allows you to see purpose within both. Butt the most brilliant part of her story is that Gist allows the faith of her characters to lead them, even when they aren’t so very willing, and ultimately allows them to discover a purpose and fulfillment that no amount of money can purchase.

Maid to Match will make your heart swoon and your imagination soar as you watch Tilly and Mack try to deny the love that begins to grow between them. As when they finally discover God’s purpose in a most unlikely place, then and only then are both their dreams fulfilled.
