Twilight's Serenade by Tracie Peterson - REVIEWED
About the Book: (from the publisher)
Britta Lindquist left Sitka six years ago in an attempt to distance herself from the love of her life, Yuri Belikov. Upon her return, she finds Yuri absent and his wife about to deliver a child. When tragedy strikes, Britta suddenly finds herself caring for Yuri's children--and her life intertwining with the man she's tried so hard to forget.
But Britta's other great love is for the violin, and her talent is recognized by Brenton Maltese, a conductor from England. The coveted first-chair position in his orchestra could be hers...but what is the cry of her heart?
At a crossroads, Britta must determine what her heart truly longs for--and if she's willing to fight for it.
My Thoughts:
“The oldest type of serenade was actually a composition to honor or express love for someone special.” (p. 334)
Britta Lindquist gives new meaning to the phrase “love endures all things” in Tracie Peterson’s third volume in the Song of Alaska series! She left Sitka, Alaska for six years and toured the world with her music, all in an effort to forget her one true love. Britta returns to Sitka in an effort to ensure the next decision she makes is the right one, and before she has been there long at all things grow rather complicated.
When Britta left Sitka, the man she loved, Yuri, had been tricked into marriage by a woman of ill repute. Trapped not only by a scheming woman but by an addition to alcohol that has robbed him of his spirit, Yuri cannot begin to foresee the changes the Lord has planned for his life. When Britta and Yuri finally come face to face at last, there are circumstances that seem insurmountable between them. Will Britta use these unfortunate events to trap Yuri once more? Will she forever give up the music that has been her life for an uncertain future with a man who knows little of love and responsibility?
Tracie Peterson has written a fitting conclusion to this historic trilogy. It really is a good story, but I think Britta must give new meaning to the word tenacious the way she clings to her dream of a future with Yuri. With all of the talent and opportunity afforded to her, she is only too willing to lay it all down for a second chance with a man who has really made a mess of his life since they last knew one another. But, this is the stuff of romance. And there are important truths of God’s love, His ability to save and change a life, and the power of forgiveness woven throughout the story.
I possess a very different makeup than Britta’s character, so personally, I’d have moved on down the road with my music! But, there again, one of the things many characters of this story must learn is to learn to look beyond their own desires and discern what God has for them to do. That’s a truth that makes me pause to consider…and not ever doubt God’s hand in all that takes place in our lives – good and bad. If you’re in need of a healthy dose of historic romance, you don’t want to miss this story!

Third in the series? How did I miss the first two??? Thanks for pointing out, again, just how much ground I have to cover in Christian fiction! LOL.
Another great one. I enjoyed this series and I'm glad I don't live in Alaska!!
Great review. I have yet to read Tracie Peterson, but this series sounds fantastic.
