About the Book:
While she's stalking the truth . . . someone is stalking her.
Psychology professor and criminal profiler Taylor Martin prides herself on being able to solve any crime, except the one she wants most desperately to solve--the disappearance of her father twenty years ago. When she finally has a lead on his whereabouts, Taylor returns home to Logan Point, Mississippi, to investigate. But as she works to uncover the truth, someone else will do almost anything to keep her from it.
Nick Sinclair pens mystery novels for a living, but the biggest mystery to him is how he can ever get over the death of his wife--a tragedy he believes he could have prevented. Now that his estranged brother is the only family he has left, Nick sets out to find him. But when he crosses paths with Taylor, all he seems to find is trouble.
Join the chase as Taylor and Nick search the murky shadows of the past for the keys to unlocking the present--and moving into a future they never imagined.
My Thoughts:
“It’s good to finally have you home,” her mother said softly
from behind. (p. 86)
Taylor Martin goes home to search for clues about her Dad’s
life – or rather why he walked out of her life and left her with nightmares
that haunt her. She is also seeking
information on the person she supposes is stalking her. Nick Sinclair also migrates to Taylor’s
hometown in search of answers. He is
looking for his brother whom he hasn’t seen in over two years. A call from a local detective has brought him
into the spotlight of a local murder, and Nick knows his brother is not a
killer.
Killing is definitely on someone’s mind, because Taylor
continues to receive death threats at her mother’s home. She profiles criminals for a living, but her
mind can’t seem to put together the pieces of this killer fast enough to
protect her. It seems her mind is also
blocking other pieces of evidence from her past – details that allow her
nightmares to continue.
Patricia Bradley has written a stellar debut novel! And I do adore discovering a fresh voice in
the suspense genre! Actually, a more correct genre would be
romantic suspense because relationship does come to play as Nick and Taylor
seem to be drawn to seek answers from the same source. But no matter, this novel has more twists and
turns than your heart and mind can track! What I love the most is that the
killer remains hidden in plain sight the entire time! When and author does that successfully, they
keep me glued to the pages! Patricia Bradley certainly writes with that kind of
tension and intrigue!
Introduce yourself to a fantastic debut author! Enjoy Shadows of the Past today! I can’t wait to see what other adventures
await me in the Logan Point series!
