ABOUT THE BOOK

The murder of Krista Carmichael's fourteen-year-old sister by an online predator has shaken her faith and made her question God's justice and protection. Desperate to find the killer, she creates an online persona to bait the predator. But when the stalker turns his sights on her, will Krista be able to control the outcome?

Ryan Adkins started the social network GrapeVyne in his college dorm and has grown it into a billion-dollar corporation. But he never expected it to become a stalking ground for online Predators. One of them lives in his town and has killed two girls and attacked a third. When Ryan meets Krista, the murders become more than a news story to him, and everything is on the line.

Joining forces, he and Krista set out to stop the killer. But when hunters pursue a hunter, the tables can easily turn. Only God can protect them now.

MY REVIEW:

“They would find her sister today.” (p.9)

And so begins Krista Carmichael’s nightmare. So begins Terri Blackstock’s latest novel, Predator. Folks, Terri Blackstock has written the reality of internet stalking into a novel that will have pages turning at a frantic pace as the Carmichael family deals with senseless tragedy. Some folks will think this is “overkill”, (pun slightly intended) to be so concerned about teens internet and phone usage. There are some sick monsters out there and they are stalking innocent children. Blackstock has captured not only the chilling reality of a stalker’s prey but the heartbreaking ache of a family who has suffered the consequences. Krista and her dad, David, are truly in a dark place – struggling to reach beyond their anger – their rage – at what has happened and still find that God has not left them alone.

Krista winds up with some very real battles on her hands as she deals with the owner of an internet social networking site, her dad’s descent into obsessive rage and helping another victim (Meagan) of this vile internet predator. My heart ached for her and the young girl Meagan most of all, because in my heart and mind the things they must experience in their desperate search are things no human being should ever suffer. This suffering is real though. All you have to do is read the daily news headlines. Children of all ages are being preyed upon by evil, evil people, and their evil is much more easily perpetrated when young folks are given unfettered access to the internet and cell phones. This fiction is frighteningly real!!

If you like to be disturbed as you read….if you like to have your heart and mind race as you ponder the evil one human can purposefully do toward another…if you have ever wondered what lurks beneath all this social connectivity we enjoy today…pick up Terri Blackstock’s Predator. I guarantee you will think a bit more carefully about what you share on the internet!!

You’ll also consider the wonderful fact that as God’s child, we are NEVER, EVER, EVER lost to Him…even in the darkest moments of our life. God is working. He is purposeful and loving and merciful even when we hurt. Praise HIM!!
