The Flowering Cross by Beth Ryan - MY REVIEW

Beth Ryan has created a precious and touching story within the pages of The Flowering Cross. This wonderful hard-cover picture book is illustrated by Renee Graef, and her pictures bring Beth Ryan’s story to life in vivid water-color pages! The story is one of simple yet profound importance – teaching the young children in your home that even they can carry the gospel message to those around them. The parents in this story set a great example for their children by loving their unlovable, grumpy neighbor. As a result, the children are even more confident in their ability to reach out to him consistently and show him kindness and affection when no one else seems willing.

I particularly appreciate Ryan’s inclusion of interactive discussion ideas throughout the story called “Faith Imprints”. At each key point within the story, the author provides ideas for parents that will open the door to great teaching opportunities as they share the story of Christ’s death and resurrection with their children. This would also be great for Sunday School and Nursery workers to use within their ministry! All in all, the beautiful pictures and lovely simplicity of this book makes The Flowering Cross a real treasure among children’s picture books! This would also make a great gift to include in your child’s Easter Basket!! I am happy to recommend Reth Ryan’s The Flowering Cross!
