About the Book: (from the publisher)
Here are 40 days of readings exploring, more searchingly than a course can offer, just what it means to live a grace-filled life. We obtain our introduction into God's grace when by faith we receive God's free gift of forgiveness in Christ. This is heartland stuff, the familiar core of Christian believing. But what next? Rich Miller believes that many who started out so well, excited about and grateful for God's saving, rescuing grace, somehow take a wrong turn. It's as if we gradually get tricked into believing that somewhere, during the race, God changed the rules and it's actually up to us to make the Christian life work. This is why this book is needed: it provides 40 reflections allowing the reader to recalibrate their spirit, to engage imaginatively and wholly with the Father who loves people, and runs to meet a wayward son, and throws an excellent party.
My Thoughts:
Grace. A gift. A
wondrous gift. Why oh why do we so often
refuse it? Why do we struggle to earn something that is already offered to us
with God’s open and outstretched hand?
Does fear have us bound? Does
pride keep us at arms’ length? Do we
struggle to forgive those that have wronged us?
Have we wronged someone and need to seek forgiveness? What prevents us from walking in the grace of
God – as His beloved children?
Rich Miller explores all of this and more in his latest
book, 40 Days of Grace. Miller
understands that this is a topic that needs to be digested in small portions.
He has skillfully divided the book into Six weeks, and each day of the week 4-6
pages that focus on one specific topic related to the theme of that particular
week. Each chapter then ends with a
thought to focus on, Scripture to meditate on and/or memorize, questions and
then a personal prayer to lead you into God’s presence as you seek to know His
will in a particular area.
This isn’t a book to be rushed through. As a matter of fact
I haven’t completed the book myself.
What I can tell you is that this book is filled with deep truths and
illustrated with real life and biblical examples of each principle or
concept. This would make an excellent individual
bible or small group study. This is a
book I am happy to recommend!
