Stress Test by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. - Reviewed

About the Book:

They may not have enough evidence to convict him, but they have enough to ruin his life.
Dr. Matt Newman thought he was leaving his life in private practice for a better one in academic medicine. But the kidnappers who attacked him as he left his last shift in the ER have no such plans-they just want him dead. Bound and in the trunk of his car, Matt's only thought is escape. He does so, but at a price: a head injury that lands him in the ICU . . . where he awakens to discover he's being charged with murder.
Sandra Murray is a fiery, redheaded lawyer who swore she was done with doctors. But when Matt calls, she knows she can't walk away from defending someone who is truly innocent.
Matt's career is going down the drain. His freedom and perhaps his life may be next. But with the police convinced he's a murderer and the kidnappers still trying to finish what they started, finding the truth-and the faith to keep going-will be the toughest stress test Matt has ever endured.

My Thoughts:

Right now, it was sort of like wearing a suit belonging to a dead man.  It just didn’t feel right.” (p. 84)

Dr. Matt Newman winds up wearing the suit of a lot of undesirable people in Dr. Richard Mabry’s latest novel Stress Test.  Mabry can weave a complicated plot like no one else, and this time he has created a plot with so many layers that you have to wonder if his main character will ever survive to the last page of the novel!! Truly, I am very glad I am in no way associated with this Newman fella!!  God goes to great lengths to grow Matt’s faith, and his survival remains questionable throughout the tale!  Whew!!

Stress Test is a nail-biter, a…stress test!!! Seriously!!   An I’m so thankful that Sandra Murray was created in time to help Matt Newman!!  Well, she doesn’t do it totally by herself, but she does a brilliant job of piecing clues together and building a case that proves  most helpful!  And I like her style of helping Matt put his life back together – eating an elephant one bite at a time as it were!  Have mercy at the size of the elephant Matt has to eat!

I know I’m rambling, but this story is a bit stressful!! You so want to see it end well, but every time you think it will… bam!! Something else goes wrong!  How does it end? Well, you’ll have to discover that for yourself!
