Escaping the Cauldron by Kristine McGuire - Reviewed

About the Book: (from the author's website)

An eight-year journey through the occult and into freedom.
Escaping the Cauldron exposes the subtle occult influences that affect 21st century Christians. Part Bible study, part memoir, this book takes the reader deep inside Kristine's eight year journey as a witch, medium, and ghost hunter and reveals how God delivered her out of the occult altogether and mercifully restored her faith and life in Christ.

My Thoughts:

“Instead, the enemy exploits man’s curiosity of the unknown and desire for spiritual connection.  Through witchcraft Satan provides an alternative to God, offering a myriad of elemental spirits and supernatural guides to tempt us into sin.   Human beings continue to pursue false promises and reasonable-sounding teaching in spite of God’s revealed purpose and plan through Jesus Christ.”  (p10)

Kristine McGuire takes the truth of this statement, and using her personal testimony and a liberal dose of Scripture, talks honestly about her experience as a “Christian witch” and how the truth of God’s Word and His faithful pursuit of her heart delivered her out of the darkness of the occult.  McGuire sees a growing trend among church goers who become disillusioned with the “church” and leave to pursue other avenues of spirituality.  She make an accurate observation on page 27 that should scare Christians out of the lethargy of filling a pew and challenge them to get immersed it God’s Word and  reach out to others with that truth!  She says, “The greater church body has no idea what the Scriptures say.  The Bible is the most widely sold, owned, and translated book.  Ever.  Yet most Americans who claim to be Christian have never bothered to read it.” No wonder folks walk away from the church!

This is a very enlightening book for everyone to read.  I know I approached it with more ignorance than understanding, and left it's pages challenged to be ever faithful to wear my Spiritual Armor.  Deception is one of the enemy’s chief tools, and the demons and spirits he commands are very convincing!  We are in a spiritual battle, and it’s time we lived our lives immersed in the truth of God’s Word so that His light can deliver others out of the darkness of Satan’s lies.  Escaping the Cauldron is an excellent tool to gain understanding in insight into this battleground of the soul!
