Sisterchicks in Woonden Shoes by Robin Jones Gun - GIVE AWAY!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

A multi-tasking mama, Summer Finley has found ways to handle whatever life throws at her with grace and a grin. Until now, that is. An “abnormal” medical test result sends Summer into an emotional tailspin and prompts her to fulfill a life-long dream of “meeting” her best friend and pen pal since fourth grade, Noelle Van Zandt, face-to-face.

Their blissful week together in the Netherlands finds Summer and Noelle floating down a canal in Amsterdam, visiting Corrie Ten Boom’s Hiding Place, sipping decadent Dutch cocoa in Delft, and bobbing merrily along through a sea of brilliant, spring-fresh tulips. Each day takes them further from midlife anxiety and closer to trusting God in deeper ways.

When Summer finally confides in Noelle about the abnormal test results, Summer’s honesty prompts Noelle to share a long-held heartache. The two friends find they both needed to be together more than either of them realized. Could it be this adventure was tucked away in God’s imagination long before Summer bought her ticket to fly to the land of merry tulips and kalomping wooden shoes?

MY REVIEW:

“Yes, vulnerable. Aren’t we all? And yet somehow we remained protected by God.” (p. 77)

Summer Finley learns a lot about being vulnerable in Robin Gun’s latest book, Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes. When her mammogram shows abnormalities and a biopsy looms, Summer chooses to escape – literally. Summer abruptly abandons her routine and books a flight to the Netherlands to visit her life long pen pal Noelle. What begins as a panicked escape becomes God’s loving and glorious reminder that He is in control even when we refuse to believe it.

Noel and Summer are true sisters of the heart. They discover that they truly compliment one another in many ways, and their time together becomes the essence of fellowship and renewal. The two women share many lovely moments together discovering the Dutch country sides and cities while also discovering each others’ heart. There are laugh out loud moments and moments that will make you cry. This really is a gem in the Sisterchick series!

Sisterchicks Go Brit was my first adventure with Robin Gunn. As much as I loved it, I loved Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes even more! There is a warmth and depth to this novel that rings true deep in your soul, and the beauty of friendship and the worshipful feel of what each lady learns from their journey is just amazing!

I highly recommend Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes! This is a story that will linger in your heart and encourage your soul!

I'm just now starting this enjoyable series and would love to win a copy of Wooden Shoes.

I just returned from a week at the beach with five ladies that would definitely qualify as a "Sisterchick" event. One lady is on the list for a kidney transplant and this was her last chance to get away for a while. It was a week of fun, sharing, and great memories.

Thank you so much for the giveaway.

I'd love to read this book.

Sisterchicks have supported me through some rough times--losing a job, my husband's terrible accident, and the recent deaths of parents and close family members. They've been there to pray, give hugs, and send encouraging cards and emails. They've also been there for the joys & triumphs too. And I've had the privilege of returning the favor--through good times & bad.

We've gone on writing retreats and attended conferences together, gathered in each other's houses, and shared meals.

You always know they're upholding you in prayer. Can't get any better than that!
