MY REVIEW:

In Ray Blackston’s latest guy tale, Last Mango In Texas, Mom has a secret identity, the bookie has a secret faith, and the girlfriend prefers dirty birds to dating! Sound a little wacky? It is in a Ray Blackston sort of way. But if you’ve ever read any of his other tales, well – get ready to laugh out loud and then, very subtly see how God works in the most unusual ways to reach some of the most unusual people you’ve ever met!

Last Mango In Texas introduces Blackston fans to Kyle Mango during his tenure at Texas Tech as an engineering student. His very short journey into the cookie-cutter world of fraternity pledges ends abruptly when he meets a girl named Gretchen. This independent-thinking young lady practically kidnaps Kyle, but in doing so she introduces him to someone who later becomes his business partner and best friend. In turn, Kyle introduces Gretchen to his Uncle Benny who has a few secrets of his own!

At least Uncle Benny thinks he has a secret! One thing leads to another and before you know it Kyle is graduating from college with his own business profitably in place while Gretchen is flying off to Alaska to save birds from an oil spill. Gretchen proves to be the lure that draws Kyle all over the globe, and during these environmentally friendly adventures, Kyle and Gretchen both discover that they have some misplaced priorities. And believe me when I tell you, you DON’T want to miss what happens to these two!

Ray Blackston writes guy lit. You know, like chic lit except from a guy point of view. He’s funny in a sparse kind of way, but by the end of the book he has your heartstrings tied in the most unusual knot! Don’t miss this story! It’s fun! It’s different! It’s Ray Blackston’s Last Mango In Texas!
