What You Need to Know about Healing by Harold J. Sala - REVIEWED

About the Book: (from the publisher)

Combining careful research, biblical narratives, and personal stories of physical and spiritual healing, internationally known Bible teacher and counselor Dr. Harold Sala points to how trusting God yields lasting and eternal rewards in What You Need to Know About Healing. While no one is promised tomorrow, you will receive true encouragement for whatever circumstance may be yours, and you will better understand the compassionate nature of our Heavenly Father and how to find healing His way.

Chapters include “Is the Great Physician Still Practicing?” “Jehovah Rapha (the God Who Heals) in the Old Testament,” “Healings that Defy Rationale,” and “Redemptive Healing--Transforming Pain into a Life Purpose.”

This dynamic resource is suitable for those who need physical or spiritual healing as well as for their family members, friends, caregivers, and other health or ministry professionals.

My Thoughts:
Teach about Healing.  Stress that God is sovereign, that He is full of surprises, and that He heals His way – whether it is in a supernatural manner, or through the skilled hands of a physician supported by the prayers of His people, or through redemptive suffering as the Shepherd of our souls walks with us through the valley to heaven’s gate.”  (p. 214)

This statement is the closest thing I could find that sums up – at least in part – the essence of the message found in Harold J. Sala’s book, What You Need to Know about Healing.  I’ve never seen a book contain such a broad scope of information in such an easily accessible and usable format!  Sala recounts the Scriptural teaching on healing from both Old and New Testaments.  He includes both Scriptural and modern day testimony of healing – supernatural, integrative and redemptive. Each chapter ends with “What you need to know” bullet points that cover the focus points of each chapter.  Truly, this is a complete, and Scripturally sound book about healing.

If I remember correctly, toward the end of the book, the suggestion is made that church groups could use this book to lead a Bible-study about healing and teach the church what God has said in His Word about the church’s responsibility in this area.  This is not some off-the-wall, esoterical, hard-to-understand book.  It is written in a well-organized format with natural divisions within each chapter that allows the reader to ponder over each truth presented.
I’m still learning, reading, researching and exploring this timely concept.  I trust that you will allow God to lead you to the truth of this subject.  I recommend this book as a terrific starting place!
