ABOUT THE BOOK

You Can't Outrun the Sins of Your Past
Desperate to forget what happened to him in Iraq, Tyler Perkins flees to the emptiness of Wyoming. He's here to escape and also to fulfill a long-ago promise by accompanying his 86-year-old friend Soren Andeman on a fly-fishing trip--once more for old time's sake. But their trek to an idyllic trout lake soon becomes something more deeply harrowing--a journey that uncovers long-held lies, deadly crimes, and the buried secrets of the past. Ty barely has time to contemplate the question of what constitutes justice when nature unleashes her own revenge. Trapped in a race back to safety, he must face his own guilt-ridden past or risk being consumed.

Powerfully imagined by the acclaimed author of In High Places, Wind River is an engaging wilderness adventure that explores the power of confession, the beauty of forgiveness, and the freedom of truth unveiled.

MY REVIEW:
Tom Morrisey has a unique voice. His stories are told at a slow and steady pace, and it doesn’t take long until your mind and heart are fully engaged in whatever location and outdoor activity the story features. In
Wind River, Morrisey takes you deep into the mountain passes of Wyoming for a trout fishing expedition. However, this trip represents much more than a young Iraqi war veteran keeping his promise to the old man who took him fishing as a child. Morrisey’s story leads the reader step by step through the breathtaking mountain scenery and alongside the banks of Cirque Lake, and just about the time you think you’re ready to enjoy pan-fried cutthroat over a warm campfire, Morrisey begins to tell you the real reason he brought you this far into the Wyoming wilderness!

Soren Andeman, an 86-year-old man seemingly wiser than the wilderness he so dearly loves, has closed his Bible and allowed it to gather dust. Tyler Perkins has also closed his Bible and his heart to God’s still small voice after returning from the war in Iraq. Each man turns to the other, and the further they trek into the Wyoming wilderness the deeper and darker their secrets become. By the end of the story you are breathless with surprise at what has been revealed and open-mouthed in wonder at all that has been accomplished in the hearts of these two very different men. Truly, this story is as poignant and beautiful as any I’ve read in a long while. God’s grace and mercy are brilliantly showcased within the story without overwhelming the reader. I urge everyone to pack your gear and come along for another breathtaking Morrisey adventure. Purchase you copy here today!

  1. Fab review. It's such a guy's guy book, yet I totally got it. I loved In High Places, too. He can write so I experience the foreignness of flyfishing and rock climbing. Trust me. That's a feat. I'd fall off the mountain face and take someone with me and literally go swimming with the fishes. Kudos to a man who can make this clumsy chick feel like she's on an adventure and NOT getting hurt in the process.
